आज की इस पोस्ट में हम आपके लिए Past Continuous Tense के वाक्यों को लेकर आए हैं।
इस Tense में कर्ता किसी कार्य को कर रहा होता है भूतकाल में
इस तरह के वाक्यों में हमें यह पता नहीं होता कि वाक्य कब शुरू हुआ था, जैसे कि ⇒ राधा गा रही थी। इस वाक्य में हमें पता नहीं है कि राधा कब से गा रही थी।
Past Continuous Tense I, He, She, It के साथ helping verb was का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Past Continuous Tense: you, we, they और plural nouns के साथ were का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Subject+was/were+mainverb+ing+object
Shyam was playing.
श्याम खेल रहा था।
श्याम हमारा subject है was हमारी helping verb क्योंकि 3rd singular subject के साथ was का प्रयोग किया जाता है,Playing हमारी main verb है, जिसके साथ ing का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
इस Tense के कुछ वाक्य दिए गए हैं।
Affirmative
He was working here.
वह यहाँ काम कर रहा था।
Shyam was running.
श्याम दौड़ रहा था।
They were walking.
वे चल रहे थे।
Rajesh was sleeping.
राजेश सो रहा था।
She was cleaning her room.
वह अपना कमरा साफ कर रही थी।
Ram was going there.
राम वहां जा रहा था।
Rani was weeping.
रानी रो रही थी।
She was coming home.
वह घर आ रही थी।
Ram was sleeping.
राम सो रहा था।
You were reading.
आप पढ़ रहे थे।
I was learning the English language.
मैं अंग्रेजी भाषा सीख रहा था।
We were eating the food.
हम खाना खा रहे थे।
Rohit was shouting at you.
रोहित आप पर चिल्ला रहा था।
Negative
He was not playing.
वह खेल नहीं रहा था।
He was not working.
वह काम नहीं कर रहा था।
She was not weeping.
वह रो नहीं रही थी।
She was not coming home.
वह घर नहीं आ रही थी।
Ram was not sleeping.
राम सो नहीं रहा था।
You were not reading.
आप पढ़ नहीं रहे थे।
She was not cleaning her room.
वह अपना कमरा साफ नहीं कर रही थी।
Interrogative Sentence with wh words
What were you doing?
आप क्या कर रहे थे?
Where were you living?
आप कहाँ रह रहे थे?
Where were you going?
तुम कहाँ जा रहे थे?
Interrogative Sentence only, which is answered with yes or no.
इस तरह के वाक्यों में प्रश्न का जवाब ‘हाँ या ना’ में दिया जाता है।

क्या वह आ रही थी
Were they playing?
क्या वे खेल रहे थे?
Were you thinking about her?
क्या आप उसके बारे में सोच रहे थे?
Interrogative Negative
Was he not coming home?
क्या वह घर नहीं आ रहा था?
Was she not cleaning her room?
क्या वह अपना कमरा साफ नहीं कर रही थी?
